Brainyacts #36

Generative AI for legal pros everywhere.

👋 Hello! to our NEW SUBSCRIBERS! To read previous posts, go here.

🥌  To all: Thank you for reading, sharing, and engaging! You keep the pressure on me to deliver every day. I won’t let you down!

Ok, today we will:

  1. share two lists of AI startups and founders to watch

  2. give you an AI news presenter

  3. use Bing Chat to create images (learn of DALL-E)

  4. wonder what Elon Musk is going to do with AI & Twitter

🆓 📣 Today’s edition is brought to you by my Free 5-Day Intro to ChatGPT Email Course. Hey, why not be my own sponsor (for now)? I took $1 out of my right pocket and put it into my left = 1 paid ad. 😇

AI & GenAI Startups

The AI 50 from Forbes recognizes the most promising privately-held companies building businesses out of artificial intelligence. This is a great list to see how vast and fast AI is.

The Business Insider put out this list of what it calls the Most Promising Generative AI startups of 2023.

FWIW: There is some cross-over between the two lists but not more than 20-25%. Also, the Business Insider list gives a bit more texture than the Forbes list.

What or Who is Who or What? 🤔

Things are getting weird or fascinating. It appears we have a new AI news presenter.

Earlier this week, a Kuwaiti news source introduced Fedha, an AI-powered virtual news anchor. Fedha announced that she is Kuwait's first AI news presenter and asked for viewers' preferences in news content.

Abdullah Boftain, the deputy editor of Kuwait News, said they are testing Fedha's ability to create fresh and creative content. In the future, she may use a Kuwaiti accent and provide news updates on Twitter.

🚨 Some of you might dismiss this as nothing more than a PR stunt or useless, sort of like Zuckerberg’s whole bit Metaverse bet! That would be easy to do.

But if you watch this AI “person” and realize that the tech will only get better - more seamless - harder to detect - your mind can go into some deep places with this.

As AI-generated humanoids continue to evolve and become more sophisticated, their potential to personalize services across various industries grows exponentially.

🙋 Can this tech be used to personalize services more?

In the legal services sector, AI-powered humanoids could provide clients with a more relatable and customized experience, adapting their appearance, language, and communication style to match individual preferences and cultural backgrounds.

This personalized approach could help:

  • bridge communication gaps,

  • improve understanding of complex legal matters, and

  • foster a sense of trust and rapport between clients and legal professionals.

Ultimately, the integration of AI-generated humanoids in legal services could lead to increased efficiency, accessibility, and client satisfaction, paving the way for a more inclusive and innovative future for the industry.

But I cannot resist putting this👇 here too.

Use Case: Bing Chat for Images

If you have access to Bing Chat, this is a nice easy intro for you to create some fun and/or useful things. If you still haven’t gotten access, please review Brainyacts #33 as I give you a step-by-step guide.

Some basics on Microsoft and OpenAI:

  • Bing Chat uses GPT-4 - the most powerful LLM released by OpenAI.

  • Microsoft has so far invested $11 billion into OpenAI and also provides desperately needed computing power.

  • DALL-E is another product from OpenAI. DALL·E creates images from text captions for a wide range of concepts expressible in natural language.

  • Microsoft has embedded DALL-E into Bing Chat.

Prompts:

To access the Bing Chat image creator, just go to Image Creator from Microsoft Bing.

You see the prompt window at the top and examples on the rest of the screen.

News you can Use:

Bain & Company weighing in on what telcos should do with AI, but this advice pertains to most organizations!

I asked GPT-4 to summarize it for us:

  • Generative AI leaders avoid protracted debates on perfect use cases

  • Prioritize internal and customer-facing applications to accelerate learning

  • Speedy action is more important than perfect planning

  • Three guiding principles for executives:

    1. Avoid AI "fever" by understanding technology's capabilities and limitations

    2. Prevent "science experiment syndrome" by avoiding perfectionism in AI development

    3. Establish guardrails and management processes for responsible AI adoption

  • Iterative product development and continuous improvement are key

  • Collaboration between operations, technology, data, and legal teams is essential for responsible AI adoption

News you can Lose (for now):

Elon Musk just bought a massive amount of GPUs.

As ZDnet reports:

GPUs are used for generative AI projects because of their ability to process lots of data at the same time. This ability is crucial for machine learning models including generative AI, as they are trained on massive amounts of data. Therefore, the purchase directly points to a generative AI project on the horizon.

Why is this news you can lose?

Simply because we have no idea what Elon has in mind. This might not even be for Twitter itself. We will have to wait and see.

That's a wrap for today. Stay thirsty & see ya next time! If you want more, be sure to follow me on Twitter and LinkedIn.
