🚨🏗️ Brainyacts Version 2.0

I am on the precipice of reaching my goal - writing for 100 straight days on the pragmatic use of generative AI within the global legal markets. This has been quite the journey!

Originally, I had the goal of reaching 1000 subscribers. I reached that goal on Sunday, April 16th after 40 editions. That was an amazing feeling.

I then set a new goal of reaching 5000 subscribers. Well, I will not make it. By tomorrow I will have reached almost 2100 of you. But that is still a great accomplishment and am I damn proud of it. Thank you!

Some Statistics & Benchmarks:

The generally accepted range of newsletter open rates is between 25 and 35%.
We hover between 52 & 56%!
This is exceptional and shows that you value what I share.

Click-through rates - meaning how many of you actually click on links I share in the newsletter - are less than 2% for the standard.
Brainyacts enjoys a rate between 9 and 11%!

As the subscriber count grows, these metrics do decrease over time (as shown my the -11.7% above). But I hope to keep them high.

Which brings me to the next act.

Tomorrow, Thursday, June 15th, will be the 100th edition.

But it will not be the last. I plan to create two editions every week going forward. Based on the analytics of readership, I will start with Tuesdays and Fridays for the release days. I will monitor engagement and take feedback (as always) and may make adjustments if necessary.

With changing the daily to a twice-weekly, my goal is to refine my curation, add more analysis (but keep it easy and pragmatic), and share more useful tips and examples.

This will remain Free. You do not need to do anything on your part other than keep reading, sharing feedback, and using your referral link at the bottom of every newsletter to share it with others.

Experiment Coming Soon.

I am not fully committing to this yet as I will test it first (as I always do), but I plan to explore a paid version of the newsletter. As I shared above, Brainyacts as you know it will remain free. But I will be taking the time I used to spend on producing the daily to produce monthly deep-dive briefings into various topics.

I will release at least the first version free and maybe the second one too, in order to get feedback. Based on both my production burden and the feedback, I will then decide if and how to proceed.

In the meantime, let’s just carry on.

🙏🤩 Thank you again for all your support and readership.

Oh and one more thing . . .

🚨‼️🚨 PLEASE CONSIDER THIS SURVEY 👇

I'm thinking about building a live, 4-week cohort-based course for lawyers and legal firm business/operations teams on how to leverage AI in their practices for strategic planning, execution, and growth.

You’ll learn how to understand generative AI and its potential in your practice, develop a unique practice AI strategy, update your practice business model, and create an AI-generated 30-day marketing plan.

I've taught and consulted on the intersection of law and business for decades, working with both in-house teams and legal firms. My expertise lies in applying business acumen and entrepreneurship to law practices and services. Generative AI is a business model tool, not a mere technology. We will use it not for novelty, but to enhance your performance and differentiation. This is pragmatic, not theory.

Not only will this course provide you with the foundations, but it will emphasize practical, insight-rich lessons with real case studies and hands-on sessions. You will learn my transformative Practice + AI Business Workflow framework, have access to a rich prompt library, and get the opportunity to interact with AI experts during our 'Ask Me Anything' segments.

✅ By the end of the course, you'll have a comprehensive Practice AI business plan, including an AI-generated 30-day marketing plan, a personal credibility & authority thought leader blueprint, and a 1-year business plan.

No obligation at all. It just helps me measure interest.

😇🔦 What Big Law Can Learn From Accenture on Layoffs

We got more news today about layoffs in large global firms - this time it was from Reed Smith.

While it should be acceptable in today’s economic climate of uncertainty that organizations of all types are shaving jobs; the way law firms do it tends to look reactionary and without a clear vision for the future. This is a big miss.

Add to this the era of generative AI and what role firms could be playing in it and well; there is a lot of potential for goodwill, brand lift, and good ole’ fashioned positive PR that firms simply are overlooking. And I am not talking about “AI Washing” or other vanity plays. I do mean taking a stab at some sort of forward-looking vision and strategy.

In this short video I shared earlier on Twitter & LinkedIn, I try to lay that out.

🔌💥 Edx ChatGPT Plugin

In an attempt to cannibalize my own course offering above, I am sharing with you here a great resource for all things online education. It is called Edx.org.

The courses on edX are created by universities and experts from around the world. They cover a wide range of topics such as math, science, languages, and even professional skills. You can choose the courses that interest you the most and start learning.

When you enroll in a course, you will have access to videos, readings, and quizzes to help you understand the material. You can also interact with other students who are taking the same course, ask questions, and get help from the instructors.

One of the best things about edX is that many of the courses are free to take. However, if you want a certificate to show that you completed the course, there may be a fee for that. But it's not required, and you can still learn a lot without paying anything.

They just released a ChatGPT plugin and here I walk you through it. There is not a big reveal here and to be honest it is a bit trivial. But it shows how companies are using plugins to augment their own website searching - which on most websites is quite poor.

EU AI Act Takes Major Step Forward

In a landmark decision today, the European Parliament has given a green nod to the revolutionary EU AI Act. This act will hold businesses accountable for their use of generative artificial intelligence and biometric identification systems, pioneering a new era of tech regulation. As the world closely watches the outcome, this vote marks a significant stride towards safer, more accountable AI applications, redefining the rules of engagement in the dynamic landscape of artificial intelligence.

Leaked Amazon Memo on ChatGPT

In a move that turns fears into opportunities, Amazon is breaking the mold by embracing ChatGPT in the most ingenious ways. A leaked internal document reveals a list of 67 remarkable use cases for the groundbreaking AI technology, ranging from auto-generating software code to enhancing Amazon's search bar for a smarter shopping experience.

This bold move underscores the need for other businesses to not shy away from AI applications like ChatGPT, but rather actively seek innovative ideas from their employees on how to leverage this game-changing technology. Amazon's daring strategy shows that the future belongs to those who see artificial intelligence as an ally rather than a threat.

Should Latin America Have an AI Version of El Salvador’s Bitcoin Moment?

As Latin America grapples with its digital divide, the region finds itself on the precipice of an AI revolution. Echoing El Salvador's groundbreaking Bitcoin experiment, Latin America has an opportunity to have its own 'AI moment.' This pivotal point, unlike El Salvador's venture that had mixed outcomes, should aspire for a more equitable digital transformation.

In the face of digital inequity, Latin America’s resilience is shining through. The tech industry thrives in adversity, showcasing potential amidst challenges. But to harness the full potential of AI, the region must craft a strategy that promotes inclusive digital adoption, spurring a revolution akin to the 'Bitcoin moment,' yet with more equitable outcomes. Today's choices will indelibly shape the future of the region in this AI era.
