🚀 Welcome to the 30 new subscribers since yesterday.🎉 Thank you for joining and please spread the word.

This is the Brainyacts newsletter, where we explore the wondrous world of generative ai and its potential to revolutionize the way we work and think.

This is day 9 of 100 (our goal - 100 consecutive days!) and today we will:

  1. oops on yesterday’s newsletter title

  2. prompts to create a professional bio or summary for your resume, speaking gigs, or LinkedIn

  3. explore a new generative ai tool

  4. talk news you can use

If you know, you know. đŸ˜€đŸ˜Ź

I realize that this newsletter is helping you all in one or two ways:

  1. helping you think about how to write prompts so you get better responses

  2. helping you discover new use cases for ChatGPT to improve your daily life

Today, we do both but focus on #2 as we look to make ChatGPT your own ad agency.

Ok, let's kick this off, shall we?

 Today's Prompt:

No, that is not the actual prompt for the day, but have fun with it!

Let’s make your bio!

Ah, the professional summary, bio, or about me section – it's the little blurb that can make a big impact on how you're perceived by colleagues, clients, and potential employers. You know this is your chance to showcase your professional persona, your skills, your experience, and your personality – all wrapped up in a nice, tidy package.

But let's be honest, it's not always easy to craft the perfect summary or bio. You might be too modest, too verbose, or simply not know where to start. And that's where the challenge lies – it's hard to write about yourself in a way that's both informative and persuasive.

So why is it so important to have a really good professional summary, bio, or about me?

For starters, it's often the first impression you'll make on someone, and we all know how important first impressions can be. It can also help you stand out in a crowded market and differentiate yourself from your competition. And let's not forget about the network benefits – having a well-crafted summary or bio can improve your online visibility and make it easier for potential clients or employers to find you.

Now, you might be thinking, "But can't I just do it myself?"

Of course, you can, but as we've already established, it's not always easy.

And besides, writing about yourself can be a bit like trying to cut your own hair – it's possible, but you might not get the best results.

That's where a professional comes in. Well ChatGPT, anyway.

Let’s do this!

LinkedIn Use Case:

Here is what my LinkedIn “About” section looked like prior to changing it:

Ok, two things to notice.

First, see how it cuts off after 4-lines. This is called “above the fold” (a throwback to newspaper lingo).

These are the most important lines for this section as they are likely the only ones people read. If they are really great, maybe they will click . . .see more. That would be ideal.

Second, I have a blank line in mine! Yikes, totally wasted real estate.

Let’s try this Prompt.

[Task: craft an attention-grabbing ‘about’ section for my LinkedIn profile]
[Tone: charismatic and professional]
[Style: summary]
[Length: Short paragraph but the first 4 lines need to encourage readers to learn more about me]
[Topic: based on my resume below (I then pasted my resume)]

Here is what my LinkedIn ‘About’ section looks like now:

It is interesting and likely smart that it pulled the awards and CLOC’s The LIO Project up to the top as they are potentially recognizable brands. My previous language was just blah blah blah and those things were buried.

Similar Use Case:

Now perhaps you are speaking at an upcoming event and the organizer asked you for a bio. Most people will just copy and paste their standard bio. But you shouldn’t. You should try to match your bio to the audience.

I mean you do want them interested in you right?

Here I will prompt ChatGPT to create a short and long bio for me for a certain event. I will depart from the template above and use a more narrative one - just to show you a different approach;

[I have an upcoming speaking engagement as a panelist and I need help crafting my speaker bio. Can you write a short paragraph and a long paragraph that accurately convey my expertise and experience to the audience? The audience is law firm partners. The topic is why lawyers should think and act like entrepreneurs. Here is my resume: (I pasted my resume here)]

Here is the response:

I hope these are helpful to you. Play with them a bit to unlock some different variations.

**Remember you can change tone, style, etc. to generate some unique responses.

You can use these for the following situations where your bio is needed:

  1. LinkedIn Profile

  2. Website Homepage

  3. Job Applications

  4. Speaking Engagements

  5. Professional Networking Events

  6. Press Releases

  7. Company Brochures

  8. Marketing Materials

  9. Conference Programs

  10. Professional Organizations
